Rajasthan Royals have confirmed the departure of Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings, while confirming the signing of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran via trade deal ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.
This trade
brings a heartfelt homecoming for Jadeja, who was first discovered by the Royals during their victorious 2008 campaign and now returns as a highly accomplished all-rounder. Jadeja expressed his deep connection to the Royals, calling it home and expressing hopes to win more titles with the current squad.
Joining Jadeja is English all-rounder Sam Curran, noted for his versatility and aggressive playing style, adding strength and balance to the Royals' lineup. Royals' Lead Owner Manoj Badale highlighted the significance of Jadeja's return and Curran's competitiveness as a new and promising phase for the team. Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Jadeja's growth into a complete player and Curran's fearless adaptability, both of whom bring leadership and match-winning capabilities to the squad.
While welcoming new talent, the Royals bid an emotional farewell to Sanju Samson, who has been a core figure in their team for over a decade. Manoj Badale praised Samson's journey from a young aspirant to one of India's respected players and leaders, recognizing his contributions and inspirational presence. Kumar Sangakkara lauded Samson's leadership, team spirit, and consistent dedication, extending best wishes for his future endeavors.
"Sanju was with us at trials when he was just 17 years old, went on to become one of our youngest captains of
RR and since then, he has been an integral part of the Royals family for more than a decade, continuing to
inspire everyone around him," said Manoj Badale.
"His chapter with us has been one of belief, brilliance, and heart. Sanju has been an exceptional ambassador of our values, and we thank him for everything he has done for the Royals family," he added.
