Inaugural ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Nadaka and former K-1 Champion Kana Morimoto talked about their impressive victories in front of their passionate compatriots at ONE 173 on 16 November, delivering memorable performances for Japanese fans.
The 10-time Muay Thai World Champion Nadaka outclassed and outpaced Thai veteran Numsurin Chor Ketwina in a five-round war to claim the inaugural atomweight title via unanimous decision, extending his remarkable winning streak to 40 consecutive victories.
For Nadaka, claiming ONE Championship gold represents the pinnacle achievement of his incredible career. The young champion understands the significance of joining the elite group of ONE titleholders and takes pride in representing the promotion's
prestigious atomweight Muay Thai division.
"ONE Championship gold is not just coveted among strikers, but also among MMA fighters and everybody around the world. And to be a part of that elite group has made me very happy," Nadaka said.
"I would like to continue to, as a martial artist in my daily life, live in a way that is befitting of a champion. I would like to continue to raise ONE Championship up as the greatest organization in the world. "
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Japanese kickboxer Morimoto delivered the biggest victory of her career by defeating former three-sport ONE World Champion Stamp Fairtex via unanimous decision in an atomweight kickboxing bout, showcasing her elite-level skills against one of the sport's most accomplished champions.
Morimoto acknowledged the challenge of facing an opponent returning from such a lengthy absence. The Japanese striker praised Stamp's incredible conditioning despite the two-year layoff, showing respect for her opponent's preparation and resilience throughout their razor-close encounter.
"Despite having that time off, and having the ring rust, I was happy that Stamp came in in incredible condition," Morimoto said.
"It was in the first round that I started to adjust my distance and kind of get [in rhythm], and I felt that in the second and third rounds, if I had a chance, I would have been able to put her out. "
