The Los Angeles Lakers are waiting on test results after Luka Doncic left the win over the Philadelphia 76ers with a hamstring issue, raising concern at a key stage of the season. Los Angeles won 119-115, yet attention quickly shifted towards the fitness of the league’s leading scorer.
The Lakers initially called the problem left leg soreness, but JJ Redick later confirmed Doncic will have an MRI on the left hamstring on Friday. The team now enters a vital stretch with uncertainty around the availability of the player driving much of their offence.
Doncic limped off late in the second quarter and did not reappear after the interval. Before leaving, Doncic played 16 minutes, scoring 10 points on 3-for-10 shooting, adding four rebounds, two assists
and five turnovers as Los Angeles tried to contain Philadelphia’s early pressure.
Redick explained the medical decision to keep Doncic out for the rest of the game. "Yeah, he felt some soreness in his hamstring, so he didn't feel like it was good enough to go back in," Redick said. "Neither did [our] medical [staff], so we held him out. And he'll get some imaging. I mean, too early to say if there's an injury, but he just had a sore hamstring. "
Rui Hachimura replaced Doncic after half-time and contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, filling part of the offensive gap. Austin Reaves delivered the main scoring lift, producing 35 points in only 25 minutes, helping overturn a 14-point third-quarter deficit against the 76ers defence.
Reaves reacted to the injury scare with a clear message about Doncic’s value. "Hopefully nothing major," Reaves said of Doncic's injury. "We need him. He's our best player and the engine [for] a lot of the stuff we do. Hopefully, we get good news [Friday], and I wish him nothing the best. "
Doncic has already missed eight games this season because of various injuries yet still entered the Philadelphia clash leading the league with an average of 33.4 points per game. The meeting with the 76ers marked only the 10th time this season that Doncic, LeBron James and Reaves all shared the floor.

James missed the opening part of the season because of sciatica in the lower back, while Reaves only just returned after sitting out 19 games with a left calf strain. With all three finally active, the Lakers are trying to build rhythm heading into the Western Conference run-in.
