Juventus and Roma both earned important wins in Serie A, tightening the race near the top of the table. Juventus beat Sassuolo 3-0, while Roma defeated Lecce 2-0. The results kept both clubs in touch with
leaders Inter and featured a major milestone for Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus responded to the draw with Lecce by controlling Sassuolo and staying in the top four. The 3-0 success moved Juventus to within three points of Inter. The leaders still hold two games in hand, but Juventus maintained pressure with a composed away display.
Juventus went ahead after 16 minutes when Pierre Kalulu drove a cross in from the right. The ball struck Tarik Muharemovic inside the area and flew into the defender’s own net. Jonathan David then tested Arijanet Muric with a weak shot, before the Sassuolo goalkeeper twice blocked efforts from Kenan Yildiz.
The visitors increased their advantage shortly after the hour mark through a well-worked move. David slipped a clever reverse pass into the path of Fabio Miretti, who ran clear and finished confidently. One minute later, Jay Idzes under-hit a back-pass, allowing David to round Muric and claim a second league goal this season, before Michele Di Gregorio saved late attempts from Nicholas Pierini and Luca Lipani.

| Match | Competition | Venue | Score | Goals for winners |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sassuolo vs Juventus | Serie A | Away | 0-3 | Muharemovic own goal, Miretti, David |
| Lecce vs Roma | Serie A | Stadio Ettore Giardiniero | 0-2 | Ferguson, Dovbyk |
Earlier, Roma collected three points at Stadio Ettore Giardiniero against a struggling Lecce side. Evan Ferguson struck after 14 minutes, controlling Paulo Dybala’s deflected pass on the edge of the box. Ferguson drove a low shot past Wladimiro Falcone, then later made way for Artem Dovbyk after an hour.
Dovbyk ensured Roma left with a comfortable margin by scoring with 19 minutes remaining. The forward met Niccolo Pisilli’s delivery from the left and finished with a controlled left-footed effort. That goal completed a 2-0 win which kept Roma close to the leading group, matching Juventus’ earlier success in the same Serie A round.
The Sassuolo match provided important numbers for Juventus and David. The Canadian forward had last scored in Serie A against Parma in August. This 3-0 win ended a 135-day wait and a 16-match league drought across Ligue 1 and Serie A. Only 110 seconds separated Miretti’s strike and David’s goal, underlining Juventus’ quick surge.
Juventus also produced a strong statistical performance, creating an expected goals figure of 2.53 from 17 shots. Sassuolo managed only six attempts, with an xG of 0.22. The result delivered Juventus a third straight away victory in Serie A, a run last achieved between December 2023 and January 2024 under Massimiliano Allegri.
Roma’s evening carried extra significance for Gian Piero Gasperini. The coach became just the third manager in the three-points-for-a-win era to reach 1000 Serie A points. Massimiliano Allegri leads that list with 1050 points, followed by Luciano Spalletti on 1017, placing Gasperini in select company after the Lecce success.
Both Italian clubs strengthened their positions in the upper part of Serie A through these away wins. Juventus stayed close to Inter despite the games in hand, and Roma maintained contact with the chasing pack. The statistical edge for Juventus, along with Gasperini’s landmark, underlined how this round shaped the current league picture.
