Guglielmo Vicario, currently playing for Tottenham, is considered a skilled goalkeeper but not yet at the elite level, according to Gianluca Pagliuca, a former Inter goalkeeper. Vicario has shown interest
in potentially joining Inter Milan as a replacement for Yann Sommer. Sommer, who will soon turn 37, has been instrumental in Inter's recent successes but faces criticism over recent performances.
During his time with Tottenham this season, Vicario has managed to keep nine clean sheets across 22 matches. He has also saved 71% of the shots he faced in the Premier League. This performance places him as Italy's second-choice goalkeeper behind Gianluigi Donnarumma. Speculation suggests that he could be a suitable candidate to replace Sommer at Inter.
Vicario's goal prevention rate stands at 0.2 goals per 90 minutes in the English top flight this season. This statistic is only surpassed by Dean Henderson of Crystal Palace, who boasts a rate of 0.3 goals prevented per match.

Pagliuca, who was part of Italy's squad during the 1994 World Cup and won the UEFA Cup with Inter in 1998, acknowledges Vicario's abilities but remains cautious about his potential move to Inter. "Yann is a reliable goalkeeper and has experience," Pagliuca shared with Gazzetta dello Sport. "I don't know what Inter want to do, but the fact that he's been questioned over two mistakes seems a bit excessive to me. "
Pagliuca further commented on Vicario: "[Vicario is] a very good goalkeeper, the second choice for our national team. He has experience in Italy and also in the Premier League. However, I don't see him as a top-class player yet. " Despite being 29 years old and having significant experience between the posts, Pagliuca feels that Vicario does not yet exude the aura of a top-tier player.
As discussions continue about potential transfers and replacements at Inter Milan, both Sommer's future and Vicario's prospects remain topics of interest among fans and analysts alike.
