Travis Head continued his golden run with the bat as he etched his name into the history books during the fifth and final Test of the 2025-26 Ashes series against England at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
On Day 3 of the contest, the aggressive left-hander brought up his 12th Test century, further underlining his status as one of Australia's most influential red-ball batters in recent years.
The milestone came off just 105 deliveries, a testament to the South Australian's attacking approach and ability to dictate terms even in high-pressure situations. It was also his third hundred of the ongoing Ashes series, highlighting his consistency throughout the marquee contest.
The century held special significance, as it was Head's first Test hundred at the SCG. With that knock, he achieved a rare feat-becoming only the fifth cricketer in the world to score Test centuries at seven different venues in Australia. The exclusive list includes former skipper Steve Waugh and legendary openers Justin Langer, Matthew Hayden and David Warner, placing Head in distinguished company.
Since making his Test debut against Pakistan in Dubai in October 2018, Head has steadily built an impressive resume. Currently playing his 65th Test, he has enjoyed remarkable success on home soil, particularly at the Adelaide Oval, where he has notched up four centuries in his last four appearances. He also boasts two hundreds at The Gabba and additional centuries at venues such as the MCG, Optus Stadium, Bellerive Oval, Manuka Oval and now the SCG.
Interestingly, Head's lone Test century outside Australia came on one of cricket's grandest stages-the World Test Championship final in 2023. Facing India at The Oval, he smashed a scintillating 163 off 174 balls in the first innings, a knock that played a decisive role in Australia's title triumph.
With records tumbling and confidence soaring, Travis Head's Ashes heroics have once again proven why he remains a vital cog in Australia's Test setup.
