Cesc Fabregas says there is no urgency to move into Premier League management, despite interest from England. The Como head coach explains that advice from Jose Mourinho shapes this patient approach, even as speculation grows about Chelsea and Arsenal considering Fabregas for future roles.
Fabregas keeps stressing his respect for English football and its status at the top of the game. "The Premier League is the best league in the world, Fabregas told Telegraph Sport. I've always been very, very clear about it. I felt it as a player, I feel it as a coach, as a fan.
Fabregas recalls a key conversation with Mourinho at Chelsea that changed his long-term view. "But [Jose] Mourinho told me one day when I was at Chelsea, 'I still have 30 years to work'.
So I could be here for 10 years, and you can still go to the Premier League in 12, 15 years.
The Como coach links that message to football’s constant change and pressure. "Football is so unpredictable; it changes in one second. One day, you are the best. The day after, you are the worst. So let's enjoy the moment. I like to enjoy the moment. Its beautiful what we are living here. Let's see what the future holds.
On the pitch, Como are pushing near the top of Serie A under Fabregas after promotion. Como sit fifth, three points from the Champions League places with three matches left, though Roma can send them down to sixth by beating Fiorentina. The team have scored 108 league goals across Fabregas' 73 Serie A games.
Defensively, Como have tightened significantly during the 2025-26 campaign, which strengthens Fabregas' reputation. They have conceded the fewest goals in Serie A so far this season, allowing only 28. Across that same period, Fabregas has earned 30 wins, 21 draws and 22 defeats in Italy's top division.
Such numbers keep Premier League clubs alert, especially with Chelsea currently without a manager and reportedly monitoring Fabregas. Rumours in England also suggest Fabregas could eventually replace a coach at Arsenal. Even so, Fabregas appears content to keep developing at Como before considering any Premier League step.

For now, Fabregas focuses on Como’s push for European qualification while applying Mourinho’s long-term outlook. The coach continues to value the Premier League but is prepared to wait many years before accepting a role there, preferring to build experience in Serie A first.
