India's Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah have been sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaches of the Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup 2025 matches against Pakistan.
Suryakumar
Yadav was found guilty of conduct bringing the game into disrepute and fined 30% of his match fees along with receiving two demerit points. Jasprit Bumrah accepted a similar charge and was given one demerit point without the need for a formal hearing.
The charges related to incidents during the high-tension India-Pakistan matches, including Bumrah's widely noted celebratory gesture after dismissing Pakistan's Haris Rauf in the final, and Suryakumar's politically charged remarks showing solidarity with victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Bumrah's sanction came from the final clash on September 28, while Suryakumar's actions were from the earlier matches.
The ICC handled these through their Elite Panel of Match Referees, with Richie Richardson officiating Bumrah's case. Pakistan's Haris Rauf has been handed a much stricter punishment, as ICC has banned him for 2 ODI matches, along with 4 demerit points and financial fines.
