IND U19 vs SA U19: India U19 will look to build on a confidence-boosting start when they take on South Africa U19 in the second ODI of the ongoing youth series. After clinching the series opener by 25 runs via the DLS method in a rain-affected match at Benoni, the visitors hold a 1-0 lead and will be eager to seal the 3-match series with another win.
The first ODI showcased India's resilience with the bat after an early wobble. Reduced to 67 for 4, India U19 were rescued by a crucial fifth-wicket partnership between RS Ambrish and Harvansh Pangalia. The duo added 140 runs, providing much-needed stability and momentum. Ambrish's composed 65 complemented Pangalia's attacking 93, helping India post a competitive total of 301 despite the failure
of a few top-order batters.
Harvansh Pangalia, in particular, will be one to watch again after emerging as the standout performer in the opener. His ability to accelerate after rebuilding the innings could once again prove decisive. RS Ambrish's knock also underlined the importance of the middle order, especially with some of the more high-profile names yet to fire in the series.
India are being led by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has taken over captaincy duties in the absence of regular skipper Ayush Mhatre and vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra, both sidelined with wrist injuries. While Suryavanshi did not make a significant impact with the bat in the first ODI, he will be keen to lead from the front in the upcoming encounter.
South Africa U19, meanwhile, will aim to bounce back strongly. Chasing a revised target of 302, the hosts were 148 for 4 in 27.4 overs when rain and lightning brought an early end to proceedings. With several wickets in hand, they would have backed themselves to mount a serious challenge, and that unfinished chase could serve as motivation heading into the second game.
Captain Muhammad Bulbulia's side will look for greater discipline with the ball after allowing India to recover so strongly from a precarious position. A better start with both bat and ball will be key if South Africa are to level the series.
With weather once again expected to play a role, adaptability could be crucial. Both teams will be aiming to stay ahead of the curve as the series moves forward, making the second ODI an important contest in shaping the outcome of the tour.
