Syndrela Das clinched the U19 Girls Singles title in the WTT Youth Contender Doha on Thursday (January 22), thus continuing her stellar form in the Table Tennis emerging category.
The Kolkata girl rallied
to a 3-1 set win over her India teammate Divyanshi Bhowmick in the final. After a setback in the U17 category, the World No. 18 youth player showcased her class for the U19 title.
Syndrela Das beats Divyanshi for U19 Title
Syndrela beat Divyanshi 11-8, 11-9, 10-12, 11-6 in the final, which saw her controlling the entire proceeding. She had a fantastic outing in the first two sets, and despite Divyanshi's comeback in the crucial third, Syndrela managed a dominating win in the 4th set. In the WTT Feeder Vadodara earlier this month, Syndrela won the Mixed Doubles title with Payas Jain.
Divyanshi had close calls for both U17 and U19 finals, but the talented paddler ended up losing both finals. In the U17 final, Divyanshi had a 2-3 setback against Chinese Taipei's Wu Ying Syuan.
Sreejani Chakraborty wins U15 Title
In the U15 Girls category, Sreejani Chakraborty showcased her mettle to beat Ahona Roy 3-1 in the final. After a defeat in the first set, Sreejani registered three consecutive sets to win the championship 8-11, 11-9, 11-6, 12-10.
