KCL: Day 3 of the Kabaddi Champions League delivered two contrasting encounters, as Karnal Kings showcased tactical control to overpower Sonipat Stars, while Bhiwani Bulls produced one of the most dominant performances of the season in a record-setting win over Gurugram Gurus.
The evening was graced by the presence of Vice Chancellor of Sports University of Haryana and former Uttarakhand Police DGP, IPS Ashok Kumar, who attended as the Chief Guest, adding prestige to the matchday proceedings.
In the first contest, Karnal Kings registered a convincing 35-21 victory over Sonipat Stars, driven by disciplined defence and timely raids from ace raider Surender Gill. The opening minutes saw both sides rely heavily on defence, but Karnal gradually pulled
ahead, capitalising on Sonipat's struggles in attack and the absence of their star raider Ayan Lochab in the first half.
Surender Gill's super raid late in the second quarter inflicted an all-out on Sonipat, allowing Karnal to build a commanding 20-10 lead at halftime. Despite a spirited second-half comeback attempt sparked by Ayan Lochab's entry and a couple of successful raids that lifted the home crowd, Karnal's defence held firm. Key contributions from Sahil Satpal, Akshit, and Sachin ensured the Kings maintained control and closed out the match comfortably.
The second match of the day saw Bhiwani Bulls completely outclass Gurugram Gurus with a staggering 62-34 win, in a performance dominated by tournament's most expensive player Devank Dalal. After an evenly contested opening exchange, Dalal found his rhythm and dismantled the Gurugram defence with relentless raids, completing his Super 10 in rapid fashion.
Bhiwani inflicted multiple all-outs, racing to a 25-15 halftime lead before accelerating further in the second half. Supported by a sharp defensive unit led by Hitesh and Sunder Nawab Singh, the Bulls kept Gurugram under constant pressure. Dalal continued to pile on raid points as Bhiwani crossed the 50-point mark, becoming the first team in the league to do so. A late Super Raid from Gurugram provided brief resistance, but the Bulls sealed a comprehensive victory with another all-out in the closing minutes.
With Karnal Kings strengthening their position through consistency and Bhiwani Bulls announcing themselves as serious title contenders, Day 3 underlined the growing intensity and competitive depth of the Kabaddi Champions League.
