Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, two notable players, Arjun Tendulkar and Mohammed Shami, have joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) through trade deals.
Arjun Tendulkar, a left-arm bowling all-rounder and
the son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, has moved from Mumbai Indians to LSG. He played five matches for Mumbai Indians since his IPL debut in 2023, taking three wickets.
Arjun has been traded to LSG at his existing fee of Rs 30 lakh. Mumbai Indians released him to help him get more playing opportunities, as competition among pace bowlers was stiff at Mumbai. Arjun is known for his ability to swing the ball and contribute useful runs lower down the order. LSG hopes he will develop further this season. The southpaw penned an emotional message on social media after his departure from MI.
Mohammed Shami, a seasoned fast bowler, was traded from Sunrisers Hyderabad to LSG. Shami was one of Sunrisers Hyderabad's most expensive buys at Rs 10 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, but he had a challenging season with limited wickets in nine matches. The trade allows him to restart at LSG, where he joins an attacking pace group including Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan. He moves at his current fee of Rs 10 crore and is expected to bring experience and leadership to LSG's bowling attack.
Apart from that, LSG have also let go of Shardul Thakur, who has joined Mumbai Indians for Rs 2 crore for IPL 2026. The Super Giants are also poised to keep Mayank Yadav for this season. The pacer was retained ahead of mega auction for a mammoth Rs 11 crore, but could only play 2 matches in an injury-ridden season. Although Mayank was poised to be released, LSG want to keep the bright prospect at least for IPL 2026.
