Kennar Lewis hit a brilliant 57 off 21 balls as Chicago Raiders beat Florida Hurricanes in an enthralling final of Mayor's New World T20 2025 by four wickets to lift the title.
Chicago Raiders remained unbeaten during the tournament and chased down the target of 180 in 19.1 overs in the final.
Lewis unleashed himself in the powerplay, not allowing the Hurricanes' bowlers to settle down. The Jamaican hit five towering sixes before Daniel Williams showed promise and scored 27 off 16 to keep Chicago in chase.
In the end, it was Aakarshit Gomel, who notched up 35 not out off 23 balls and hit the winning runs to take Chicago Raiders to the trophy. Four bowlers took a wicket each for the Hurricanes.
Earlier, the wicket seemed to play a bit trickily as
balls stayed low in the early parts of the game, but opener Ian Dev Singh navigated that phase with technical prowess despite losing his partner in the powerplay and scored 56 runs off 39 balls.
Veteran Dinesh Ramdin was promoted to number three and batted with poise to end up with 45 off 32 before Damion Joachim managed a well-built 31 runs as the Hurricanes posted 180 on board. Shenan Jayasuriya, Manan Sharma and Rishi Dhawan took a wicket each for Chicago Raiders in the final.
