Jhon Duran's last-minute header earned Fenerbahce a dramatic 1-1 draw against Galatasaray in the Intercontinental Derby. The former Aston Villa player scored in the fifth minute of added time, cancelling
out Leroy Sane's earlier goal in Istanbul. Galatasaray, aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig, appeared more threatening during the first half.
Victor Osimhen and Gabriel Sara came close to scoring for Galatasaray before Sane broke the deadlock. His deflected shot from outside the box found the net in the 27th minute. Fenerbahce thought they had equalised through Edson Alvarez just before halftime. However, a VAR review disallowed it due to a handball in the build-up.
Despite their efforts, Galatasaray could not maintain their lead. Fenerbahce's substitutes combined effectively in stoppage time. Levent Mercan delivered a cross that Duran headed home, securing a crucial point for his team.

Duran's late intervention extended Fenerbahce's unbeaten run in the Turkish Super Lig to 15 matches. They remain just one point behind Galatasaray. Domenico Tedesco’s side posed a significant attacking threat throughout much of the match. They managed 17 shots with an expected goals (xG) value of exactly 1 compared to Galatasaray’s six shots with an xG of only 0.23.
Galatasaray still leads the table despite this setback, but Okan Buruk’s team has only won once in their last four league outings. This draw highlights both teams' competitive nature and keeps the title race tight as they continue their campaigns.
