Newcastle United secured their first away victory in the Premier League this season with a commanding 4-1 win over Everton. Malick Thiaw was instrumental, scoring twice at Hill Dickinson Stadium. His first goal
came just 55 seconds into the match, setting the tone for Newcastle's dominant performance.
Everton struggled without Idrissa Gueye, who was suspended. Their defence faltered as Newcastle capitalised on their opportunities. Jordan Pickford's mistake allowed Lewis Miley to score in the 25th minute, and Lewis Hall nearly added another when his shot hit the crossbar.
Thiaw's second goal came in the 58th minute with another powerful header, extending Newcastle's lead. His defensive contributions were equally impressive, with five clearances and seven duels won, showcasing his all-around performance on the field.
Despite Everton's efforts, they only managed a consolation goal through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Thierno Barry thought he had scored his first goal for Everton, but it was disallowed due to an accidental handball.

The absence of Gueye left Everton vulnerable in midfield, and their defence could not cope with Newcastle's attack. Michael Keane, James Tarkowski, Jake O'Brien, and Vitaliy Mykolenko failed to impress as Newcastle managed eight shots on target from 13 attempts.
This defeat marked the first time since April 2023 that Everton conceded four goals at home in a Premier League match. Ironically, that previous loss was also against Newcastle with a similar scoreline of 1-4.
Thiaw made history by becoming the first player since Kenedy for Chelsea in March 2016 to score his debut Premier League goal within the opening minute of a match. His early strike was also recorded as the fastest goal in this season's competition.
Newcastle will be pleased with their performance and Thiaw’s contribution both offensively and defensively. Meanwhile, Everton will need to regroup and address their defensive issues moving forward.
