Mumbai Indians (MI) IPL 2026 Retention: 5-time record champions Mumbai Indians have announced their full list of retentions ahead of the IPL Auction in Abu Dhabi and the Paltans mean absolute business.
Mumbai Indians were active in the trade window even before announcing their retentions. Arjun Tendulkar has been traded to Lucknow Super Giants for his existing price of ₹30 lakh. Arjun, first signed by MI in the 2021 auction, made his IPL debut for them in 2023.
Spinner Mayank Markande is set to rejoin MI at his current fee after a stint with KKR. He previously played for the franchise in 2018, 2019 and 2022, and has 37 wickets from 37 IPL games across his career.
Earlier, MI had also bolstered their squad by bringing in Shardul Thakur from LSG and Sherfane Rutherford from Gujarat Titans.
The likes of Vignesh Puthur, Karn Sharma, Reece Topley have been let go by the Paltans. MI have heavily relied on Ashwani Kumar, Naman Dhir for the upcoming season, while big names like Trent Boult, Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton along with Rohit Sharma, SKY, Tilak Varma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya were a no-brainer.
Heading into the auction, they would have only 2.75 crore in their bag and that would give them less options of a big star as they have already assembled their core side. What they can do is to rely on some young guns to fill the slots.
