India women Richa Ghosh was welcomed back to her hometown Siliguri with jubilant celebrations following India's landmark victory in the 2025 Women's World Cup. The city erupted in festivities as friends,
family, officials, and fans gathered to honor their golden girl with flowers, music, traditional dhol beats, and heartfelt cheers.
Richa arrived at Bagdogra airport where Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, and other dignitaries received her. The atmosphere at her family residence was equally vibrant with decorations and celebrations reflecting the pride of the entire city.
An official civic felicitation ceremony is planned at Rabindra Mancha in Bhajatan Park, sponsored by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation and supported by nearly 60 organizations keen to recognise the star's achievements. The India star will be felicitated again in Kolkata, as the Cricket Association of Bengal has already arranged grand plans for the World Champion.
Richa's father, Manabendra Ghosh, recalled her journey from playing cricket as a child in Siliguri to becoming a key architect of India's World Cup win.
"There is no shortcut to success. Talent matters, but dedication and parental support are critical," he said. Richa's mother expressed her excitement and pride in welcoming her daughter home.

CAB will honor Richa with a gold-plated bat and ball signed by legends Sourav Ganguly and Jhulan Goswami at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on November 8.
Richa's record-setting performance, including 12 sixes, the most in a single Women's World Cup-and a crucial 34 off 24 balls in the final, has made her a beacon of hope for women's cricket nationwide. From Siliguri's narrow lanes to the world stage, Richa Ghosh's homecoming marks the celebration of a true champion who embodies grit, talent, and unwavering determination.
Apart from the various accolades the prize money, Richa has further reasons to be ecstatic as the India player has been retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru women ahead of the WPL retention deadline.
