Kane’s impact since leaving Tottenham for Bayern in 2023 has matched the weight of expectation. Kompany feels the move has sharpened wider appreciation of Kane’s overall qualities, not just goals. Across all tournaments this season, Kane has 53 goals in 45 appearances, the highest total in Europe’s top five leagues. The forward has been decisive in the Champions

League, where Kane’s 12 goals this campaign are already the most by any English player in a single European Cup or Champions League season.

Kane has also built a consistent record in the Champions League knockout rounds. The Bayern striker has scored in each of the last four knockout matches. One more game with a goal would match the club record of five consecutive Champions League knockout games, set by Robert Lewandowski between 2016 and 2018.

Real Madrid have suffered most from Kane’s form this season. Kane has either scored three times or assisted three times in each of the last five Champions League games against the Spanish side. No player has ever produced a longer run of direct goal involvements against Real Madrid in the competition.

The forward’s contribution goes beyond finishing, according to Kompany, who has watched Kane closely this season.
