The Delhi Capitals enter the 2026 edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) with one clear mission-to finally lift the trophy that has narrowly eluded them for three consecutive seasons.

Despite reaching all three finals since the tournament's inception, the franchise has yet to convert those appearances into a championship. Under the leadership of Jemimah Rodrigues, the Capitals will hope this is the year they script a different ending.

Delhi's campaign begins with a challenging opener against the Mumbai Indians, the very team that has denied them the title twice. Adding to the difficulty is the absence of Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland, who pulled out due to personal reasons. While the team has roped in Alana King as her replacement,

the Australian leg-spinner has had limited WPL exposure, featuring in just one match so far.

With 507 runs in 27 WPL matches, she remains one of the most consistent performers in the league. Complementing her is Laura Wolvaardt, fresh off a sensational run at the 2025 Women's World Cup, where she finished as the tournament's leading scorer.
