The San Antonio Spurs moved into the Western Conference finals after a dominant 139-109 Game 6 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, sealing the series 4-2. The victory sets up a clash with the Oklahoma City Thunder, who swept both earlier rounds, with Game 1 scheduled for Monday and marking San Antonio’s first conference finals appearance since 2017.
San Antonio’s backcourt of Stephon Castle, De'Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper drove the win, combining for 58.2% of the team’s points. The trio shot 23-of-30 from the field, showing high efficiency. Their control of tempo and scoring balance allowed San Antonio to pull away early and never lose command of the game.
Castle and Fox dictated the tone from the opening minutes. They either scored or assisted
on 28 of the Spurs’ first 36 points, creating an early gap the Timberwolves never closed. That first-quarter surge put Minnesota under pressure, while San Antonio executed clean half-court sets and attacked mismatches with patience.
Castle delivered one of the standout individual displays of the Spurs’ postseason. Castle finished with 32 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, impacting both ends of the floor. Fox supported with 21 points and nine assists, guiding the offence, finding shooters, and ensuring San Antonio maintained spacing against Minnesota’s defensive schemes.

Head coach Mitch Johnson highlighted Castle’s influence on the result. "He was pretty damned good," Johnson said of Castle. "His temperament and disposition led to him having the right approach and playing the right way. When they have the right approach and play with the fundamentals needed at this level to execute, their talent can take it to another level. He had a few moments where he did that. De'Aaron was pretty good, too. "
Harper came off the bench and contributed 15 points, offering additional scoring and energy in the backcourt rotation. Harper also looked ahead to the series against Oklahoma City, aware that the challenge will be higher against a team that has yet to lose in this postseason. "What we're walking into on Monday is a different animal, Harper said. The experience is great for all of us. But we've just got to have the mindset of we're going to keep the foot on the gas no matter what. "
The 139 points were the third-highest total in a playoff game in Spurs history, reinforcing how efficient the offence was against Minnesota. The win secured San Antonio’s 15th appearance in the Western Conference finals. The Spurs now prepare for the Thunder, who swept their first two series, with the teams opening the matchup in Game 1 on Monday.
San Antonio enters the Western Conference finals with strong form from the Castle-Fox-Harper backcourt and confidence from a convincing series win. Oklahoma City’s perfect playoff record so far underlines the difficulty of the next step, but the Spurs carry momentum, experience and a clear focus on maintaining intensity throughout the coming series.
