Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed sadness and frustration over the current state of Manchester United, the club where he shaped much of his legacy.
In a candid interview with Piers Morgan, the Al-Nassr forward,
who remains deeply attached to the club, lamented what he sees as a lack of structure within the club's foundation.
"I'm sad, because the club is one of the most important in the world and I still carry it in my heart," Ronaldo said. He pointed to what he believes to be the root problem: "They don't have a structure. To move forward you need intelligent people, prepared people, working to build a solid foundation. "
Ronaldo took a sharp stance on the team's sporting form and future trajectory. "They're not on the right path. They need to change - and I'm not talking only about managers or players. " He further challenged the mentality of some players, saying, "Manchester United have good players, but then some of them don't have the mind what is Manchester United?"
Addressing Manchester United's current manager Rúben Amorim, Ronaldo said, "He's doing his best. What are you gonna do? Miracles? Miracles are impossible. We say in Portugal, miracles are only in Fatima. " He emphasized that Amorim cannot work miracles without structural changes at the club.
Despite his criticism, Ronaldo reiterated hope for the future. "I hope this changes moving forward, as the club has enormous potential. It is among the most significant clubs of the century. "
Ronaldo's remarks come amid a challenging period for Manchester United, with the club trying to rebuild after years of inconsistency and internal difficulties. The English giants have had a torrid recent months, where they finished only 16th in the league last season. They had a topsy-turby start in this term as well, but have recently returned to form with a four-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League.
