The East Zone Selection Committee has announced a strong 15-member squad for the Duleep Trophy 2026-27, with experienced wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan appointed captain and teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi named vice-captain.
The selection meeting was held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday, bringing together representatives from the six East Zone associations to finalise the squad for the prestigious domestic tournament.
The squad features a healthy blend of international stars, experienced domestic performers and exciting young talents. Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran, veteran India pacer Mohammed Shami, left-arm spinner all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed, and fast bowler Mukesh Kumar headline the Bengal contingent.
Jharkhand
contributes five players, led by skipper Ishan Kishan, alongside wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra, all-rounder Anukul Roy, batter Virat Singh and Shikhar Mohan. Odisha's representation includes seasoned batter Subhranshu Senapati, while Bihar's teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been rewarded with the vice-captaincy after his impressive rise in domestic cricket. Assam's Denish Das and Tripura pacer Abhijit Sarkar complete the main squad.

The standby list comprises Ayush Loharuka (Bihar), Sridam Paul (Tripura), Sambit S. Baral and Swastik Samal (Odisha), and Sharandeep Singh (Jharkhand).
The East Zone Selection Committee meeting was attended by CAB Honorary Secretary Bablu Kolay, who was present as convenor, along with CAB Treasurer Sanjay Das. The panel of selectors included Dibyendu Chakraborty (CAB), Manish Wardhan (Jharkhand), Pravanjan Mullick (Odisha), Alok Saha (Tripura) and Anant Prakash (Bihra), while Sumit Ranjan Das (Assam) joined the meeting virtually.
