Mikel Arteta chose not to criticise his Arsenal squad after they secured a draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Arsenal seemed poised to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League when
Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard responded to Dan Ballard's impressive opening goal. However, substitute Brian Brobbey equalised in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time.
Arsenal had been on an impressive run, winning their last eight matches across all competitions without conceding a goal. This streak was a joint record in English top-flight football. Unfortunately, they couldn't maintain this form against Sunderland. Ballard's goal was not only Sunderland's first shot on target but also the first goal Arsenal conceded in 812 minutes since Nick Woltemade scored for Newcastle United in September.
Arteta focused on the positives despite the late setback, highlighting Arsenal's strong position in the league and their perfect start to the Champions League campaign. When asked about any complaints, Arteta told BBC Sport: "No, we have won the last 10 games, not conceded goals, we have seven players injured and the team has been phenomenal in performances and results, so let's keep going. "
The manager acknowledged Sunderland's aerial threat, which led to their two goals from open play. He noted that Sunderland have scored more 90th-minute goals than any other Premier League team this season, with three altering match outcomes in their favour. Arteta remarked, "Credit to them, it was the type of game that they wanted to throw you in and you have to handle that. "
Sunderland's ability to score late goals has been notable this season. They have netted five goals in the 90th minute or later, with three changing match results (W2 D1). Arteta admitted that Arsenal conceded a goal in a manner they knew was one of Sunderland's strengths. He added that despite dominating after scoring twice, Sunderland could create chaos with fouls or long throws.

Heading into the third international break of the season, Arteta praised his players' efforts. He highlighted their strong position despite injuries preventing rotation among key players. "Very strong position for the reasons I said," he commented. "Clean sheets, seven top players up front injured so we haven't been able to rotate as much. "
Upcoming North London Derby
Looking ahead, Arsenal faces a significant challenge as they prepare to host Tottenham in two weeks for the North London derby. This match will be crucial as they aim to maintain their momentum and secure a victory against their local rivals.
