Dominik Szoboszlai emphasises the lengthy journey ahead in the Premier League title race as Liverpool prepare to face Manchester City. Despite a challenging start, Liverpool recently ended a losing streak
with a win over Aston Villa and triumphed against Real Madrid in the Champions League. Szoboszlai urges his teammates to stay focused for their upcoming match at the Etihad Stadium.
Szoboszlai stresses the importance of maintaining momentum, stating, "The most important thing is to keep going like this. There is a long way to go. Now it's all about the Premier League and facing Man City at the weekend. We know how good they are now. We have to focus on that. "
Liverpool, who claimed the title last season, currently trail leaders Arsenal by seven points. Szoboszlai highlights that if they were leading by seven points, it wouldn't guarantee victory. He recalls last season's calm approach when leading, emphasising that anything can happen in football.
He further explains, "If we were seven points clear at this stage, nobody would be saying that we had won the league already. Last season, when we were leading the way, we just stayed calm and kept on going because anything can happen. "
Szoboszlai praises Liverpool's unity and resilience in overcoming recent struggles. He believes team spirit has been crucial in bouncing back from poor form. "I think the team spirit [has helped us]," he added. "We are a really close team. Everyone protects each other, we are there for each other. "
The midfielder acknowledges that sticking together during tough times is essential for success. He notes that when everything works well, positivity prevails within the team. However, even during challenging periods, their belief in improvement remains strong.
