Fenerbahce's manager, Domenico Tedesco, is gearing up for his first Intercontinental Derby against Galatasaray on Monday. The team is on a 13-match unbeaten streak in the Super Lig and trails Galatasaray by just
one point. This impressive run includes notable victories over Trabzonspor and Besiktas, with the latter match showcasing a comeback from two goals down to win 3-2.
Tedesco took over in September after Jose Mourinho's controversial exit. Despite initial challenges, he believes the team has now found stability. "The mood was really negative," Tedesco shared with The Athletic. "It's not just that they changed the coach. We also had this election at the very beginning, so everybody was nervous about that. " He explained how the election coincided with a game day, adding to the pressure.
Fenerbahce have been dominant at Chobani Stadium this season, remaining unbeaten in six league matches with five wins and one draw. They have scored more league goals than any other team this season, totalling 30. Only Goztepe and Galatasaray have conceded fewer goals than Fenerbahce's 12.
The former Leipzig manager highlighted the unique passion of Fenerbahce's supporters. "If you work for a big club like Fenerbahce, with a massive fanbase, not winning the league for 11 years, everybody's really hungry for titles," he said. The fans' enthusiasm is palpable on match days as they head to the stadium.
Tedesco shared insights into his tactical approach that has made Fenerbahce formidable recently. "Out of possession, I like to press high because we want the ball," he stated. "And once we have the ball, I like to dominate the game, score goals and create chances. " He described their style as "a little bit heavy metal" out of possession and "a little samba" when they have control.
A victory on Monday would propel Fenerbahce above Galatasaray to lead the table. However, it promises to be a challenging encounter as Galatasaray have been strong away from home under Okan Buruk's management this season.

Galatasaray have shown impressive form on their travels this season with five wins and only one loss in away matches in the Super Lig under Buruk's guidance. This makes Monday’s derby an eagerly anticipated clash between two top teams vying for supremacy.
Fenerbahce are eager to end their title drought of over a decade. With passionate fans backing them and Tedesco’s strategic acumen, they aim to seize every opportunity to climb to the top of the league standings this season.
