Barcelona maintained their unbeaten run in this season's Champions League with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Ewa Pajor equalised for last season's runners-up after Ellie Carpenter had
given the Blues an early lead. Carpenter, however, missed a crucial chance to secure victory for the hosts late in the game.
Sonia Bompastor's team took the lead 16 minutes into the match. Aggie Beever-Jones found Carpenter in open space, allowing her to drive forward and score past Cata Coll at the near post. However, Barcelona responded quickly. Eight minutes later, Pajor capitalised on Chelsea's failure to clear a corner, striking the ball into the net amidst a crowded box.
Technical issues caused delays in the first half, disrupting the game's momentum. Chelsea thought they had scored a winner when Catarina Macario headed in with her first touch as a substitute. However, VAR ruled it offside, nullifying what could have been a decisive goal.
With 10 minutes remaining, Carpenter played a one-two with Macario to position herself for a shot inside the box. Unfortunately, she missed from close range while aiming for the bottom-left corner. Despite this miss, Carpenter was instrumental throughout the match.
Carpenter led her team with three shots and was second in touches (71). She completed 38 passes and made three interceptions. Additionally, she won five out of eight duels, showcasing her all-around contribution on the field.
