Germany secured a commanding 6-0 victory over Slovakia, ensuring their spot in the 2026 World Cup. Leroy Sane was instrumental, scoring twice and assisting once. Both teams were tied with 12 points in Group
A, but Germany's decisive performance guaranteed their automatic qualification, leaving Slovakia behind.
Nick Woltemade opened the scoring for Germany in the 18th minute. He headed Joshua Kimmich's cross into the bottom-left corner while unmarked. Shortly after, Serge Gnabry forced a save from Martin Dubravka but soon scored himself, slipping the ball past the goalkeeper during a one-on-one.
Florian Wirtz set up two quick goals for Sane, who first controlled a looping pass to score in the 36th minute. Five minutes later, Sane volleyed an impressive shot into the net's roof. Slovakia struggled to respond after halftime as Germany continued to dominate.
In the 67th minute, Gnabry assisted Ridle Baku for Germany's fifth goal. Baku easily rolled it into an empty net following a swift team move upfield. Later, Sane showcased his skill again by setting up Assan Ouedraogo. The debutant fired a low shot past Dubravka to complete the scoring.

Analysing Germany's Performance Metrics
Germany avenged their earlier 2-0 loss to Slovakia in qualifying with this emphatic win. This marked their fifth consecutive victory by more than one goal, a streak not seen since late 2021. They registered 22 shots with ten on target and achieved an expected goals (xG) of 3.95 compared to Slovakia’s mere 0.38 xG from six attempts.
Wirtz played a crucial role despite recent criticism, creating six chances and providing two assists. Only Jonathan Tah had more touches than Wirtz's impressive tally of 96 during the match.
Germany’s comprehensive win against Slovakia highlights their strength and determination as they prepare for the upcoming World Cup tournament.
