Fulham's manager, Marco Silva, has emphasised the significance of the upcoming January transfer window for the club. Fulham's summer transfer activity was limited, with only four new players joining, three
of whom arrived on deadline day. The team currently sits 15th in the Premier League, just three points clear of relegation. They are also set to lose key players to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Silva expressed his frustration over the summer's lack of signings and highlighted the need for action in January. He stated that everyone at Fulham is aligned on their targets for the transfer window. "It is not just clear from my side, but everyone in the club, what is necessary and what we are going to try and do in the next window," Silva told Sky Sports.
The Africa Cup of Nations will see Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze likely called up for Nigeria. Additionally, striker Rodrigo Muniz is sidelined until February following surgery. These absences could impact Fulham's performance as they strive to maintain their Premier League status.
Fulham's upcoming match against Tottenham presents a chance to improve their league position. They have had recent success against Spurs, winning two of their last three encounters. However, Fulham struggles away from home this season, earning only one point on their travels.
Silva acknowledged that injuries and player absences create challenges for Fulham. "We have some injuries that create different scenarios," he said. Despite these hurdles, Silva remains focused on preparing for the January transfer market alongside the club's CEO.
The team's performance against Tottenham will be crucial as they aim to distance themselves from relegation danger. While Fulham has struggled away from home, Spurs have also found it difficult to secure points at home this season.
