Oscar Piastri has dismissed suggestions that his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, is responsible for his recent struggles in Formula One. Despite leading the Drivers' Championship by 34 points earlier, Piastri now trails Norris by 24 points as they approach the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Piastri has not reached the podium in his last five races, a streak matching his previous 20 races.
Piastri's recent performances have seen him finish fifth in the last three races and miss out on points in the Sao Paulo Sprint race. He refutes claims of Norris influencing team dynamics, stating that his challenges are personal. "I think it's been more that the last few races have been difficult for myself," he said. "There have been different reasons for all of that.
"
McLaren has accumulated 756 points this season. If their drivers secure 10 more points in Las Vegas, they will surpass Mercedes' 765 points from 2016, marking the second-highest score by a team in a single Formula 1 season. However, McLaren has yet to excel at this track since its introduction to the calendar in 2023.
Piastri remains optimistic about improving McLaren's performance at Las Vegas. He acknowledges the unique conditions of the track and aims to adapt effectively. "Vegas is very specific. so we'll see what we get," he added. His focus is on maximizing his performance and adjusting to whatever challenges arise.
Lando Norris has achieved 17 podium finishes in 2025. Only Max Verstappen has surpassed this feat with more podiums in a single season (18 times in 2021 and 21 times in 2023). Norris secured pole positions at both the Mexican and Brazilian Grands Prix recently.
Norris is set to participate in his 150th Formula One Grand Prix, all with McLaren. This milestone will see him match David Coulthard's record for most Grands Prix with McLaren and as the fifth driver with the most Grands Prix for a single team.

Max Verstappen's Consistency
Max Verstappen of Red Bull has consistently finished on the podium since the summer break, spanning seven Grand Prix events from the Netherlands to Brazil. He has placed second or third on 56 occasions throughout his career.
If Verstappen secures another podium finish without winning, he will tie with Rubens Barrichello and Valtteri Bottas for second or third place finishes (57 times each). His consistent performance remains a highlight of this season.
