The Bangladesh Premier League will resume as scheduled from January 1, 2026, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed on Wednesday (December 31).

as planned amid the national mourning following Begum Khaleda Zia's death.
The former Bangladesh prime minister, who was the first female to hold the office, passed away at the age of 80 in Dhaka on Tuesday (December 30). The entire country mourned her demise, while the Bangladesh Nationalist Party also announced a seven-day national mourning.
In its statement, the BCB paid homage to Zia's pivotal role in cricket's growth during her tenures as Prime Minister (1991-1996 and 2001-2006).
"The BCB recalls with gratitude her constant blessings and good wishes for the progress of cricket in this country," the board noted. It highlighted her "outstanding support for the development of cricket in Bangladesh, significantly contributing to improvements in cricket infrastructure and the sport's growth nationwide. Her vision and encouragement helped pave the way for many of the advancements the game enjoys today. "
"In respect of the nation's mourning and in honour of Begum Khaleda Zia's legacy, the BCB announces that today's scheduled Bangladesh Premier League matches have been cancelled and will be rescheduled. Further details on the revised fixtures will be communicated in due course," the statement concluded.
BPL 2025-26 matches on January 1
The New Year's Day will see Sylhet Titans take on Dhaka Capitals, while Rangpur Riders play Rajshahi Warriors.
BPL called off matches to be played on January 4
The BPL matches on Tuesday were called off, and the two matches which were set to be played, will now take place on January 4. Sylhet Titans will take on Chattogram Royals while Dhaka Capitals will be up against Rangpur Riders, as both matches will be played in Sylhet.
BPL 2025-26: Chattogram Leg Scrapped
Amid the rescheduled matches on January 4, the Chattogram leg of the tournament has been cancelled. Originally, January 4 was supposed to be an off-day in the tournament ahead of the Chattogram leg, which starts from January 5.
In the primary schedule, Rangpur, Dhaka, Chattogram and Rajshahi were slated to play on January 5 in Chattogram. But as three of those four teams will be in action on the day before in Sylhet, the matches will go as planned but the league phase will continue at Sylhet till January 12.
The final three days of the group stage matches will be played in Dhaka, while the playoffs and the final will be hosted in Dhaka as well. The playoffs start from January 19 and the final is scheduled to be played on January 23, as per the earlier announcement.
