The Milwaukee Bucks are facing a challenging period, having lost seven consecutive games, including a 118-109 defeat to the New York Knicks. Giannis Antetokounmpo, who returned from a groin injury to score
30 points with 15 rebounds and eight assists in just 28 minutes, is urging his team to shift their mindset towards winning. This losing streak is their longest since March 2014.
Despite Antetokounmpo's impressive performance, the Bucks were unable to overcome the Knicks, led by Jalen Brunson's 37 points. The loss also resulted in Milwaukee's elimination from the NBA Cup with a group play record of 2-2. Antetokounmpo has called on his teammates to focus on fostering a winning mentality and culture within the team.
Antetokounmpo emphasised that personal agendas should be set aside for the team's success. "Nobody should have a personal agenda. Nobody should worry about what they want from themselves," he stated. "Worry only about winning mentality. Winning mindset. The more we can win the games, the more everything takes care of itself. "
The Bucks' shooting statistics were notable as they made 52.1% of their shots and sank 18 three-pointers against New York. However, they took fewer shots and free throws compared to their opponents, highlighting areas needing improvement.

Antetokounmpo acknowledged that fatigue and injuries might tempt players to take on more than necessary. He stressed that focusing on individual scoring or playmaking isn't how games are won or cultures built. Instead, players should concentrate on fulfilling their roles and handling minor tasks effectively.
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers pointed out specific areas for improvement like turnovers and offensive rebounding. "We're outshooting teams, but it's the turnovers, the offensive rebounding, and it's the fouls," Rivers noted. He believes winning these aspects is crucial for success.
Rivers also mentioned Giannis' minute restriction during Friday's game as a challenge but necessary for his recovery. The team struggled when Antetokounmpo was off the court but prioritising his health remains essential.
The Bucks must address these issues if they hope to turn around their current form and regain their competitive edge in upcoming games.
