Sam-A Gaiyanghadao will face Aliff Sor Dechapan for the ONE Interim Strawweight Muay Thai World Title on 24 July. The bout headlines The Inner Circle at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok. It fills the gap while reigning champion Prajanchai PongSuphan PK recovers from injury.
Officials are not viewing the fight as a stop-gap event. Sam-A and Aliff stand at opposite ends of a clear age divide. Their clash is expected to shape the strawweight Muay Thai order. The winner will gain interim gold and a unification shot.
Sam-A brings vast experience into the five-round contest. He has fought more than 400 professional bouts, holding a 378-50 record. He has claimed titles in several organisations. At 42 years old, he still shows sharp timing and control in close
exchanges.
In April, Sam-A scored a walk-off head-kick knockout at ONE Fight Night 42. That win reminded observers of his striking power and ring reading. It also placed him back near the top of the strawweight mix. Now he aims to claim interim status.
Aliff represents a younger wave in the weight class. The 22-year-old Thai-Malaysian athlete has won every ONE Championship bout so far. His style features constant forward movement and heavy punch-kick combinations. Each appearance has shown small but clear improvements in his timing.
Aliff has put together five straight wins in the promotion. In December, he defeated Ramadan Ondash by unanimous decision. That result underlined his durability over three rounds. It also helped position him as the division's most dangerous active challenger at strawweight.
Should Aliff win on 24 July, he would become Malaysia's first ONE World Champion. That would mark a key point for the country's martial arts scene. Whoever prevails, a unification match with Prajanchai is expected once the champion returns from injury.
