Luka Doncic produced another huge all-round display as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 127-113, with the performance pushing an already historic March to new levels. Doncic led with 42 points and 12 assists, while LeBron James and coach JJ Redick both reached major career milestones during the home victory.
Support around Doncic remained strong. Austin Reaves added 19 points, while Jake LaRavia, Rui Hachimura and LeBron James each finished with 14. The win marked LeBron’s 1,229th victory across regular season and playoffs, the most by any NBA player, and gave JJ Redick his 100th coaching win with the Lakers.
Redick’s record also came with a notable franchise achievement, as Redick became the first Los Angeles Lakers coach since
Phil Jackson to guide the team to 50 wins in back-to-back seasons. Reflecting on that status, Redick said: "Don’t deserve to be mentioned along with Phil or Pat [Riley] or any of those guys, Redick said. I’ve got a lot left to accomplish, for sure. I’ve had the same [coaching] staff for the most part, [in] both years. I think just we are resilient, and we’re resolved. "
Doncic’s latest effort pushed the March scoring total to 600 points, the highest in one month in Los Angeles Lakers history. The Slovenian passed Kobe Bryant’s previous franchise mark of 578 points from 2006 and delivered a third straight 40-point game, extending a run that has reshaped the current NBA scoring landscape.
Reaching 600 points in March placed Doncic alongside exclusive company in NBA records. Doncic matched Michael Jordan, who did so in March 1987, as the only players to hit that mark in that specific month. Doncic also became one of just 10 players ever to score at least 600 points in any single NBA month.
The Cleveland game also took Luka Doncic beyond 15,000 career points, another landmark reached before the end of March. That total came despite a recent setback, as Doncic missed the Los Angeles Lakers win over the Washington Wizards while serving a one-game suspension, triggered by a 16th technical foul of the season.
Redick underlined how dominant the form has been across these weeks, saying: "I think Luka has had as good of a month as anybody that I can remember in the modern NBA, at least since I’ve been part of it, Redick said. "
When asked about the personal scoring streak and historic numbers, Doncic pointed instead to team results and consistency. "If you don’t win, it doesn’t really mean anything. So, the run [15 wins in 17 games in March] we’ve been on, it means a lot. "

The combination of team success, individual milestones and historical comparisons has defined the Los Angeles Lakers month. With LeBron James setting the all-time wins record, JJ Redick extending a 50-win standard and Luka Doncic matching legends such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, the franchise entered April in strong competitive shape.
