Wolves collected a valuable point at Old Trafford, ending an 11-match losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Manchester United. Premier League’s bottom club fell behind to Joshua Zirkzee’s strike, deflected in off Ladislav Krejci, before Krejci levelled with a sharp header. It was only Wolves' third point of the 2025-26 campaign, and the first since Rob Edwards succeeded Vitor Pereira.
Edwards praised the group’s response under pressure and stressed how much the result matters for confidence. The head coach, who took charge at Molineux last month, saw Wolves produce another strong away display, this time rewarded with a result. The draw also gives Wolves something to build on before returning to home action in the Premier League.
The point comes
during a bleak Premier League year for Wolves, whose 2025 numbers highlight deep problems. Their return of 29 points from 38 league games in the calendar year gives a points-per-game ratio of 0.76. That is the lowest by any club across a full Premier League year since Huddersfield Town managed 23 points in 37 games, or 0.62, in 2018.
Wolves' place in the record books is also unwanted. They are only the second team in top-flight history to go 19 matches from the start of a season without a win, matching Bolton Wanderers’ sequence from 1902-03. Wolves have also conceded at least 40 goals by the halfway stage in back-to-back Premier League seasons, with 42 in 2024-25 and 40 already in 2025-26.
| Team | Season / Year | Games | Points | Points per game |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wolves | Premier League 2025 (calendar year) | 38 | 29 | 0.76 |
| Huddersfield Town | Premier League 2018 (calendar year) | 37 | 23 | 0.62 |
Edwards underlined that, despite the statistics, performances away from Molineux have shown encouraging signs. He felt Wolves matched Manchester United for long spells and managed key periods smartly. The team carried a threat in possession, while also limiting clear chances at the other end, even as Manchester United dominated the ball during much of the second half.
"At least, we take something from the game, the Wolves boss told Sky Sports. We've had a few good performancesespecially away from homeand not got the results, so it's progress.[It's] nice to take a point, it's the least we deserved tonight. We wanted to win the game. The away games we've had, we should've taken more, but we haven't. We can take belief and confidence. The challenge now is to do that at home. "
Wolves showed that belief after falling behind. Manchester United went ahead when Zirkzee’s effort diverted in off Krejci, but the defender reacted well. Krejci then arrived in the box to meet a cross and guide a precise header past the goalkeeper, restoring parity before half-time and changing the mood in the away end at Old Trafford.
Wolves Premier League display, tactics and key moments
Edwards highlighted the blend of structure and bravery in Wolves’ play. "We had a good plan, and we really believed. To go 1-0 down here is difficult, but we kept fighting, we deserved the goal at the end of the first half. Second half, they probably had more of the possession. We almost gifted them one and they had the offside goal. We still had a chance in the second half, so we could've taken more from the game, but the performance level, the quality and desire were there from the players. The chances were there, but we showed good moments of control, took the ball. You can't come here and just defend, so there was a lot to like about the performance. "
The Wolves head coach pointed to both sides having openings after the break. Manchester United threatened, including a disallowed goal, while Wolves created situations where a better final pass or finish may have delivered an away win. Edwards accepted that one lapse almost proved costly, but felt the overall defensive focus and work rate held firm under pressure.
Support from the travelling fans was another theme, with the away end staying loud despite the league position. The players acknowledged that backing at full-time, with Edwards also keen to recognise the effort from the stands at Old Trafford.

Looking beyond this match, Edwards stressed how hard the squad has worked during a difficult stretch. "We've got three points all season, it's been really difficult so far, he added. We've showed character, got [a goal] back against Arsenal and Liverpool and tonight, again, showed good character and quality. When I watch it back, maybe I'll be frustrated we've not taken more, but the lads are working hardyou can see that. You need results for the belief and buy-in. The lads are with us and on board, but there's nothing like results to get everyone on board. They are fighting;we don't look like a team with only three points, but the reality is that's where we are. [We must] keep continuing to build, we're doing the right things. "
Edwards now wants Wolves to carry this level into fixtures at Molineux as 2026 approaches. The draw at Manchester United ends a long losing sequence, lifts morale in the camp and offers evidence that performances are trending upwards. The challenge for Wolves is to turn improved displays, clear character and tactical discipline into wins that can reshape their Premier League season.
