The 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals batter has officially rewritten the limits of six-hitting in T20 cricket, smashing 65 sixes this season - the most ever by any batter in a T20 tournament.
In doing so, he surpassed the legendary Chris Gayle, whose iconic IPL 2012 campaign for Royal Challengers Bengaluru had stood untouched for 14 years.
But the truly absurd part is not merely that Sooryavanshi broke the record. It is how quickly he did it.
Gayle needed 456 balls to hit 59 sixes in IPL 2012. Sooryavanshi has smashed 65 sixes in just 266 deliveries. That is nearly half the number of balls.

If there were any doubts about whether Sooryavanshi could dominate on the biggest stage, the IPL 2026 Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad erased them permanently.
In one of the greatest playoff innings in IPL history, the teenager smashed 97 off only 29 balls, hammering 12 sixes against an international-calibre bowling attack.
The innings completely dismantled SRH inside the PowerPlay itself.

No batter in T20 history had previously crossed even a 200 strike rate while scoring 600-plus runs in a tournament. Sooryavanshi is the first.
