Detroit crushed the Brooklyn Nets 130-77, recording the biggest winning margin in Detroit Pistons history as Jalen Duren scored 21 points. Five Detroit players reached double figures, while no Brooklyn Nets player exceeded the 12 points scored by Cam Thomas and Drake Powell.
The Detroit Pistons opened a 55-point advantage at one stage and never allowed the Brooklyn Nets any serious response. That dominance backed up Detroit’s strong form, with eight wins in the last 10 games pushing Detroit Pistons to 36-12, the best record in the Eastern Conference.
Detroit’s 53-point victory moved past the Detroit Pistons’ previous record win, a 52-point success over the Boston Celtics in January 2003, which ended 118-66. For the Brooklyn Nets, this heavy defeat
followed a 120-66 loss to the New York Knicks on January 21, adding to a difficult stretch.
"You know, there were games earlier this season where we got a big lead," Bickerstaff said. "And then, we let our foot off the gas a little bit and fumbled the lead and had to figure out a way to win it in the fourth quarter. We talk about it all the time. We never expect to start the season as good as we expect to finish it. And for us, it's always about taking those steps of continuing to improve. And you find different ways and areas where you need to improve. I think our guys have continued to do that. "

Bickerstaff highlighted the work behind the Detroit Pistons’ run and the performance against the Brooklyn Nets. "These guys put in so much work and so much time, and they sacrifice so much for one another, for the ultimate goal of being able to get out there and help. Tonight was a great night for that. But I'm most pleased with how we continued to play to our standard. That was the most impressive part. "
The Detroit Pistons’ ruthless display against the Brooklyn Nets underlined Detroit’s progress across the season, combining depth scoring with consistent defence. With the franchise record winning margin, a 36-12 record and strong recent form, Bickerstaff’s team showed why Detroit currently leads the Eastern Conference standings.
