India stalwart Rohit Sharma headlines JioStar's ambitious campaign for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup India & Sri Lanka 2026, casting the tournament as a historic battle against unbreakable records rather
than rival teams.
As the leader who guided India to their second T20 World Cup triumph in 2024, Sharma positions the defending champions, currently the world's top-ranked T20I side, on the cusp of three never-before-achieved feats.
No team has defended a T20 World Cup title, no host nation has won on home soil, and no country has lifted the trophy three times. The name of the campaign is 'History Repeat Karenge. History Defeat Karenge'.
Sharma opens the campaign film by addressing the nation directly: "Beyond teams and players, there is another opponent standing in our way. History. " The narrative shifts from opponent analysis to inspiring belief, emphasizing that cricket unfolds on the field, not in ledgers.
Campaign Vision and Leadership
Conceptualised in-house by JioStar, the "History Repeat Karenge. History Defeat Karenge" film celebrates India's T20 dominance, including the top-ranked batter and bowler.
Siddharth Sharma, Head - Sports Content at JioStar, noted, "This World Cup is unique because India isn't just playing against a diverse array of nations; they are playing against decades of never-been-done-before. Our campaign captures the intent to overcome historic odds. It's about the audacity to believe that while history is written about the past, it can be rewritten by the present. "
The initiative builds on a recent JioStar film uniting India's Women's World Champions, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, and Deepti Sharma, in support of Suryakumar Yadav and the men's squad, highlighting the growing synergy across Indian cricket.
