Ruben Amorim has urged Manchester United to move forward and not dwell on past mistakes. This comes after Cristiano Ronaldo remarked that the club requires miracles to achieve consistent success with its
current squad. Ronaldo, who played for United from 2003 to 2009 and again from 2021 to 2022, praised Amorim's efforts in a recent interview with Piers Morgan.
Despite Ronaldo's praise, he expressed doubts about Amorim's ability to restore United to the top of English football without significant changes. "They are not on a good path," Ronaldo stated, suggesting a major squad overhaul is necessary. Amorim, however, believes that focusing less on former players' opinions could benefit the club.
Amorim emphasised the need for Manchester United to concentrate on their current progress rather than past errors. He acknowledged the club's historical mistakes but highlighted ongoing improvements in structure and player behaviour. "Let's forget a little bit the past," Amorim said, stressing the importance of moving forward.
He also mentioned that a victory over Tottenham would temporarily elevate United to second place in the Premier League standings. "We are changing a lot of things; the structure, the way we want the players to behave," Amorim added, indicating positive developments within the team.
The Red Devils have shown promising form recently, remaining unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches with three wins and one draw. This streak matches their best run under Amorim's leadership. Their last longer unbeaten stretch occurred between January and February 2024 when they avoided defeat in five consecutive games.
During that period, United also scored two or more goals in each of those five matches. The team's current performance suggests they are gaining confidence and improving under Amorim's guidance.
