Sourav Ganguly has made a significant move by acquiring a co-ownership stake in Tiigers of Kolkata ahead of the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) 2026 season.
The franchise, owned by Aksha Kamboj, Executive Chairperson of Aspect Global Ventures, announced Ganguly's entry as both co-owner and brand ambassador through Aspect Sports, its sports division. This addition bolsters the team's focus on unearthing grassroots talent and offering a national stage for emerging players in the high-energy T10 tennis ball cricket format.
Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan have been co-owners since the league's start, helping shape the franchise's foundation.
The ISPL stands out as India's vibrant platform blending street cricket's raw passion
with professional organization. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar drives the league as investor, brand ambassador, and core committee member, channeling his expertise to bridge street games and stadiums. Ganguly's involvement underscores the league's roots in India's communities.
"We are honoured to have Sourav Ganguly join the Tiigers family," said Aksha Kamboj, Executive Chairperson, Aspect Global Ventures in a press release.
"His legacy in Indian cricket, leadership ethos, and deep understanding of the game make him an invaluable partner as we continue to champion talent from every corner of the country. This partnership also reinforces our commitment to growing the game across eastern India, ensuring that every athlete with a bat and a dream has access to the opportunity to represent the Tiigers. Our vision with Tiigers of Kolkata and the ISPL has always been to inspire ambition, promote unity, and open doors for gifted players who might otherwise go unnoticed. Together, we aim to elevate street cricket into mainstream opportunity. "
The Tiigers of Kolkata were the inaugural season winners and has built a strong team ahead of the season 3 of the ISPL. Ganguly is already in franchise cricket as a coach of Pretoria Capitals and has now bought his first stake in a cricket-based franchise.
