As the January transfer window approaches, Arsenal remain active in the market for reinforcements, as Mikel Arteta confirmed on Monday.
The Gunners spent a massive amount in the summer, but injury issues
have prompted them to look for new signings as they lead the Premier League table approaching 2026.
Although financial cap may stop them from spending huge again, the winter window may see Arsenal looking to bring in young talents to the club, with reports indicating three players they have already targeted this season. As per Sky Sports, the North London club has identified Rodrigo Mendoza, Davide Bartesaghi and Jean-Matteo Bahoya for the January window.
Rodrigo Mendoza
Rodrigo Mendoza, a 20-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder for Elche. His playing style emphasizes high touches, solid defensive contribution and chance creation. Career-wise, he has 56 senior appearances for Elche since November 2022, plus 22 for Elche Ilicitano, and represents Spain U20/U21 with 4 caps each. He has so far scored 1 goal in LaLiga this season.
Davide Bartesaghi
Davide Bartesaghi, a 19-year-old Italian left midfielder/left-back at AC Milan, excels in chance creation, aerial duels and goals relative to midfielders. Detailed 2025/26 Serie A stats show 2 goals, 0 assists, 16 chances created, 87.5% pass accuracy, and 15 tackles in 822 minutes over 11 matches. He joined Milan's senior team in 2022 and has played for Italy U21 as well.
Jean-Matteo Bahoya
Jean-Matteo Bahoya, a 20-year-old French forward at Eintracht Frankfurt, has also been earning interest from Arsenal. In 12 appearances, he has 2 goals, 1 assist, 12 shots on goal, 76 tackles won, and 18 crosses, starting regularly. The youngster has excelled this season and continues to impress in the Bundesliga. The Gunners are actively monitoring his progress and may bring him at the club in the January window.
In midfield, the Gunners signed Christian Norgaard as a backup along with Martin Zubimendi. If any of the aforementioned players arrive, they will also be slotted in as a backup and someone who can excel in the future. The Bahoya interest comes from potential departures, as Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli may leave the club either this window or in the summer.
