Chennai Super Kings secured a vital 23-run victory over Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026's 18th match at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday (April 11).
Sanju Samson delivered a match-winning, unbeaten 115 off 56 balls, smashing 15 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 205.36, anchoring the innings on a batting-friendly Chepauk pitch. Ruturaj Gaikwad fell for 15, caught off Axar Patel, while Ayush Mhatre smashed 59 off 36 before retiring out.
Shivam Dube added a brisk 20 not out. DC's bowlers struggled, with T Natarajan conceding 54 off 4 overs and Lungi Ngidi 41; only Axar (1/39) claimed a wicket as CSK raced to 61 in the powerplay.
Chasing 213, Pathum Nissanka (41 off 24) and KL Rahul (18 off 10) started aggressively, reaching 61/1 before a collapse
saw DC at 66/3. Tristan Stubbs fought with 60 off 38 (4x4, 3x6), but early losses of Axar Patel (1), Sameer Rizvi (6), and David Miller (17) derailed momentum. The middle order crumbled against CSK's pace attack, extras mounting to 15 amid 11 wides and 3 no-balls. Jamie Overton starred with 4/18 off 4 overs, while Anshul Kamboj also picked up 3 wickets.
With the victory, CSK have now lifted themselves from the bottom of the table. Delhi Capitals have now lost twice in a row and will have to make a swift turnaround. This was also the Super Kings' 8th win out of nine matches against DC at Chepauk.
