Pochettino stated, "For me, these are the players that they deserve to be here and are the players that we want to see. They are the players that are our choice, our selection. " He stressed that even well-known players like Pulisic and Adams should not feel secure about their inclusion. According to him, "the federation is bigger than the names that [are
in] the national team. "
Christian Pulisic has been a significant figure for the USA, with 82 appearances and 32 goals. However, he has only played six times in 2025 due to injuries. He missed two November matches after a hamstring injury during a friendly against Australia. Pochettino remarked on Pulisic's performance against Australia, noting it was perfect until his injury.
