Veteran Indian shuttler HS Prannoy and rising talent Unnati Hooda are set to lead the charge of Indian shuttlers at the upcoming Taipei Open Super 300. Prannoy, who is seeded seventh in the tournament, will begin the proceedings against Japan's Minoru Koga. On the other hand, BWF World Rank 24 Unnati Hooda will begin the competition against the player who comes from the qualifiers.
The tournament will especially be important for Prannoy, who is having a tumultuous time this season. The World No. 36 has managed to cross the opening hurdle only thrice this season. Meanwhile, Unnati Hooda, who started her season on a positive note by winning the Polish International this season, has since struggled with form, with a series of first-round exits.
However, Japan Open winner PV Sindhu and Thomas Cup winner Lakshya Sen will not feature in the Taipei Open Super 300. Sindhu, who recently took part in back-to-back tournaments, is taking a break from the busy schedule ahead of the BWF World Championships 2026.
Tanvi Sharma returns to action after a short break, having reached the quarter-finals at both the Australian Open and US Open last month. She will be joined in the women's singles draw by Devika Sihag, Malvika Bansod and Anmol Kharb.
Meanwhile, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty remain sidelined, with Satwik continuing his recovery from the shoulder injury he suffered at the Indonesia Open.
