With the IPL 2026 mini auction just around the corner, speculation over player trades has reached fever pitch. Among the franchises grabbing headlines is Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have found themselves at the centre of social media chatter linking them to big names like Sanju Samson and Washington Sundar.
Rumours have been circulating that Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson could be exploring a move to Chennai for a fresh challenge, while others suggested that CSK were in discussions with Gujarat Titans to bring in Washington Sundar as a replacement for veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, who announced his retirement from international and IPL cricket earlier this year.
However, the five-time IPL champions decided to address the growing
speculation - in classic CSK fashion. Through a light-hearted video posted on social media, the franchise's CEO Kasi Viswanathan appeared alongside mascot Leo, playfully dismissing the rumours.
In the clip, Viswanathan humorously referenced a wild claim that he himself was being traded to Punjab Kings in exchange for co-owner Preity Zinta - clearly mocking the wave of baseless reports. The video ended with a tongue-in-cheek disclaimer that read:
"Trade rumours are subject to mental health risks. Wait till the official announcement for sanity. "
The video quickly went viral, with fans applauding CSK's trademark wit and calm response amid the rumour frenzy. While the post didn't confirm or deny any specific transfer talks, the underlying message was clear - no deal is official until the team says so.
Ashwin's departure, however, has opened up a sizeable space in CSK's purse - ₹9.75 crore - giving the management ample flexibility heading into the auction. Strengthening the spin department and shoring up the middle order, which lacked consistency last season, are expected to be among their top priorities.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni, who led the side once again last season after Ruturaj Gaikwad's injury, is set to continue with the franchise in IPL 2026. The 44-year-old legend, retained as an uncapped player last year, remains the emotional and strategic core of the Chennai outfit as they prepare for another campaign under his leadership.
