Rohit Sharma has been named as the brand ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2026, as it was confirmed on Tuesday (November 26).
The ICC chairman Jay Shah confirmed Rohit's participation as an ambassador for
the 10th edition of the tournament, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7.
"I am pleased to announce that the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy winning captain Rohit Sharma will be the brand ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2026," said Jay Shah.
Rohit Sharma's captaincy in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was marked by historic achievements and strong performances. He led India to win the T20 World Cup in 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final, which was India's first ICC title in 10 years and their second T20 World Cup triumph since 2007. Rohit was an influential captain providing brisk starts in the matches, and this victory marked a significant milestone in his leadership career. He retired from T20 internationals after the tournament on a massive high.
In the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit led India to the final by strong team efforts, and India defeated New Zealand in the final with Rohit playing a crucial innings of 76 off 83 balls, earning the Player of the Match award. This win made him the first captain in cricket history to lead his team to the finals of all ICC tournaments (ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy, and World Test Championship) within three years.
"I would like to thank ICC for this honour to be an ambassador of an ICC event. I was told by somebody that while playing, nobody has been announced as an ICC ambassador. Its a great privilege for me. Hopefully, we can create another magic like last year. It's a huge task to win an ICC trophy," says Rohit Sharma. I know how desperate we were to win that trophy. It feels good as you can see the amount of happiness that spreads with the sport that we play. It will be a little different to witness matches, but I am getting used to it," Rohit said at the event.
