Punjab Kings' chase of 220 against Sunrisers Hyderabad had momentum, pressure, and moments of doubt-but it was Shreyas Iyer's calculated aggression that ultimately defined the night. When Punjab slipped to 128/3 in the 11th over, the contest was delicately poised. The early fireworks from Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh had laid the foundation, but Sunrisers Hyderabad clawed back through timely breakthroughs from Shivang Kumar. With the required rate beginning to rise and Nehal Wadhera still settling in, the responsibility fell squarely on Iyer to anchor the chase.

in pacing an innings. Iyer did not rush early. Instead, he assessed conditions, rotated strike, and waited for the right bowlers to target. The shift came around the 12th over, when he began accelerating with authority-dispatching Nitish Kumar Reddy for a boundary and a six to release pressure and restore momentum. From there, Iyer took control of the chase with calculated aggression. Against Harshal Patel, he hammered two towering sixes and a boundary in a single over, collecting 18 runs and bringing the equation firmly in Punjab's favour. His fifty came off just 24 balls, a milestone that reflected not just speed, but timing within the context of the chase.
Even as wickets fell around him-most notably Nehal Wadhera's dismissal at 197/4-Iyer remained composed. He continued striking boundaries at regular intervals and maintained a strike rate above 200, ensuring the chase never drifted back into SRH's control.
By the time Punjab needed just four runs from 12 balls, the contest was effectively settled. Iyer remained unbeaten on 69 off 33 balls, guiding PBKS to 223/4 and sealing a six-wicket victory with seven balls to spare.

"We got a phenomenal start. It wasn't easy later, so I had to give myself some time, and thankfully it worked out," he said. "All of us came together, and we want to maintain the same rhythm going forward. "

Shashank delivered instantly. In the space of three deliveries, he dismissed both openers-first Travis Head for 38, caught while attempting a big hit, and then Abhishek Sharma for a blistering 74 as he miscued a lofted shot to deep extra cover. The double strike halted SRH's momentum at 122/2 and brought Punjab roaring back into the contest.
