Inter Miami will host New York Red Bulls at the Nu Stadium tonight as they look to strengthen their Eastern Conference title defence. Sitting fourth with 11 points, the Herons remain unbeaten in their last five league outings. Under the management of Javier Mascherano, Miami will be aiming to turn a series of draws into much-needed wins.
The Red Bulls, currently seventh and coached by Michael Bradley, arrive on the back of an impressive 4-2 win over FC Cincinnati, a match highlighted by the sharp finishing of young striker Julian Hall. However, as always, attention will largely be centred on Lionel Messi, who continues to be the main attraction on Mascherano's side.
Will Lionel Messi Play For Inter Miami?
Messi is fit and expected to captain Inter Miami tonight. The Argentine star,
who scored in last week's 2-2 draw against Austin FC, will lead a side still chasing its first win at their new home. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has been in excellent form this season, scoring six goals in seven appearances across all competitions.
While Messi and Luis Suárez are confirmed starters, Mascherano faces a few selection concerns in midfield. Tadeo Allende remains in doubt after picking up a hamstring injury in training, which could open the door for German Berterame to feature in the starting XI.
