Neeru Dhanda Clinches Womens Trap Gold At The 68th NSCC Shotgun In New Delhi

Asian Championship gold medallist Neeru Dhanda claimed the women's trap title at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions (Shotgun) at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range on 29 December 2025.

In junior men's trap, Aryavansh Tyagi produced a strong finish to secure gold, as shooters from several states shared the remaining medals.

Neeru Dhanda controlled a tense women's trap final, closing with 41 hits. Delhi's Kirti Gupta kept the contest close before finishing one hit behind on 40 for silver. Madhya Pradesh shooter Pragati Dubey added bronze with 32, giving the state two athletes on the individual podium.

The junior men's trap final turned in Aryavansh Tyagi's favour as the round progressed. Aryavansh hit 42 to take gold, while Punjab's Keshav Chauhan secured silver with 37. Uttar Pradesh shooter Zuhair Khan, who had earlier dominated qualification, completed the podium with 30 hits to earn bronze.

Team contests also featured close battles across categories. Madhya Pradesh topped the women's trap team standings with 339, ahead of Delhi and Punjab. Women's trap qualification produced a different order to the final. Pragati Dubey led the field with 117, ahead of Neeru Dhanda on 114 and Olympian Rajeshwari Kumari on 113. Delhi shooter Addya Katyal qualified fourth on 112, while shoot-off scores separated fifth-placed Preeti Rajak on 111+1 and sixth-placed Kirti Gupta on 111.

The women's trap final then reshuffled positions behind Neeru Dhanda and Kirti Gupta. Delhi's Addya Katyal placed fourth with 27 hits. Preeti Rajak followed in fifth on 21, and Punjab's Olympian shooter Rajeshwari Kumari closed the medal match in sixth with 17, after entering the final from third place in qualification.

Junior men's trap qualification saw Uttar Pradesh's Zuhair Khan outscore the field with 120. Gujarat's Aryan Singh followed on 118 and ended fifth in the final with 21. Aryavansh Tyagi and Haryana's Arjun both shot 115, with Aryavansh advancing higher via shoot-off, while Punjab's Keshav Chauhan and Uttarakhand's Manitwa Singh Rawat scored 113 and 112 respectively.

Those junior men's scores carried into a competitive final round. Manitwa Singh Rawat finished fourth with 27, adding to Uttarakhand's presence. Arjun of Haryana ended sixth with 14 hits after entering from a shared third qualification score. Away from the junior field, Rajasthan's Snehlata Singh Rajawat won Trap Master Women gold, ahead of Gujarat's Beena Anand Patel and Uttarakhand's Rajshree Rawat.

Images from the 68th NSCC showed individual medallists and team officials, including Tournament Director Amarjang Singh and NRAI President Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, with both women's and junior men's trap finalists.
