Defending UPT20 champions Kashi Rudras have announced the Rudras Cup, a regional scouting tournament aimed at widening their player identification process before the upcoming season. The two-day event will be held at the JK Loco Railway Stadium in Kanpur on July 7 and 8.
The initiative follows the franchise's first phase of trials at Sigra Stadium in Varanasi, where more than 1,100 aspiring cricketers from across Uttar Pradesh registered. The strong turnout has encouraged the team to create another competitive stage for shortlisted players.
Rudras Cup to feature four regional teams
The Rudras Cup will include four regional teams representing Varanasi, Prayagraj, Jhansi and Fatehpur. The tournament is designed to help the franchise's coaching and scouting staff assess players in match
situations, rather than relying only on trial performances.
For young cricketers, the format offers a more realistic opportunity to show temperament, adaptability and game awareness. These factors often become important when franchises look beyond raw skill and evaluate players for a demanding T20 environment.
