After months of anticipation, the long-awaited bantamweight Muay Thai showdown finally delivered at ONE Fight Night 39 on Prime Video on Friday, 23 January, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, with spectacular knockouts and dominant performances.
Thai phenom Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon announced himself as the top contender for ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nabil Anane's throne, finishing Russian knockout artist Abdulla Dayakaev with a devastating combination at 2:41 of round two.
The opening frame delivered a classic kicker-versus-puncher battle as the 22-year-old from Superbon Training Camp threw left kicks to time "Smash Boy's" dangerous left hands whilst the Russian mixed in body punches that kept Rambolek cautious.
In the second
round, Rambolek maintained his composure, countering whilst Dayakaev headhunted for the finishing blow before the Thai sensation dipped underneath a power punch and stung his foe's body.
Rambolek followed up immediately with a right hook to his rival's body and left hook upstairs before sending a thunderous right into Dayakaev's chin as he desperately tried to counter.
Dayakaev crumpled to the canvas as Rambolek threw a final knee, forcing the referee to wave off the contest whilst the Thai sensation nudged his all-striking record to 67-14, extending his winning streak to five.
Undefeated Russian destroyer Asadula Imangazaliev remained flawless, knocking out two-time Rajadamnern Stadium World Champion Kongthoranee Sor Sommai with body punches at 1:02 of round two in flyweight Muay Thai action, earning a US$50,000 performance bonus.
"The Dagestan Ninja" used his height advantage to control the opening frame, throwing question mark kicks that kept the 29-year-old Thai veteran on the outside whilst struggling to find openings in the Russian's rangy guard.
The 22-year-old from Team Mehdi Zatout came out firing high kicks in round two as Kongthoranee desperately pushed forward with punches before backing him into the ropes with a push kick.
Imangazaliev then landed a push kick that scored an eight-count before going straight to the body with punches, forcing the referee to wave off the contest and improving his perfect record to 11-0.
